"It’s nice to know I have help at the end of a phone"

About: Community Children's Nursing / Paediatric Epilepsy Nursing Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My toddler started having seizures. The team in the acorn centre in Antrim hospital seen her very quickly.

Her epilepsy nurse Elanor was amazing. The day after our initial appointment she phoned me up just to chat. She spent almost an hour on the phone with me, reassuring me about my daughters seizures and how best to deal with these situations in future. She was very empathetic and seemed genuinely interested in how I was feeling at the time.

It was prior to this chat feeling very overwhelmed by my daughters well being, however having someone take the time out of their busy day like that made me feel instantly better.

She keeps in constant contact, and it’s nice to know I have help at the end of a phone call if I ever need it for my daughter.

Antrim hospital are very lucky to have someone as dedicated as her in their team.

Dear Controllerke74

Thank you so much for your feedback regarding your experience in the Acorn Centre with your daughter. I am sure this was a very stressful experience for you both and glad you felt supported by the staff and Eleanor Donaghy, our Epilepsy Nurse, both in Acorn and now at home.

I will ensure the team and Eleanor are made aware of your feedback and know that this will be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Shirley Montgomery

Lead Nurse Paediatrics.
