Anything else?
I have a urological problem ,an enlarged prostate, for which a surgical procedure is be carried out in a few weeks time.Last Saturday late evening I developed a worrying condition with considerable blood in the urine. I contacted ,in my opinion, the remarkably ineffective 111 service initially and they offered little assistance. We decided to get tp the A & E Dept of James Cook Hospital, and arrived.at 2 a.m. approximately to be informed there was a 3.5 hours waiting time. The staff very quickly realised the seriousness of my situation and I was being cared for within 5 minutes of my arrival at the Dept. I could not ask for better attention including effective pain control as they provided me with a bladder flush out etc. The nurse who looked after me could not have been more respectful, informative or effective, I was in the Dept from 2.a.m. until 6.a.m.and apart from looking after my medical condition they even provided both my wife and I with drinks and toast etc. On a bed being allocated I was moved to ward 15 and cared for with the same attentiveness. Both the nursing staff and the Urology Dept. doctor who attended me were absolutely excellent way beyond my expectations. I continue then to have consistently excellent treatment from the staff at the James Cook hospital where they clearly are extremely hard worked and in my opinion under resourced but despite this their commitment to the care I have received could not be improved.
