"Monklands university hospital health and safety"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 9)

(as a service user),

Had a three week stay mainly in ward 9. The nursing care was amazing. However, there were often many trip hazards in the room. One night when I went to the toilet I had to navigate over massive hoist sheet that had been left on the chairs which already gave restricted access to toilet.  Also a patient was taken for scan one day and their table was left blocking toilet access.  Access to the shared sink was also restricted due to a patient's wheelchair that was never once used. I pointed out the trip hazards but was not taken seriously.  Where I work a near miss report would have been filed.

Dear Frsglle,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion.

I am pleased to hear that the nursing care you received was excellent. It will be a pleasure to share this positive feedback with the team.

I am however disappointed to read the feedback you have provided regarding trip hazards and difficulties faced in accessing the bathroom during the night. Please be assured that we take Health and Safety very seriously in NHS Lanarkshire and I am very sorry that you had to navigate this. I have provided your feedback to the department management and requested they discuss this with the staff as a learning opportunity.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
