"Excellent video's regarding total hip replacement"

About: Cumbernauld Locality Support Service / Integrated Rehabilitation Team St Mary's Hospital (Newport) University Hospital Monklands / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a carer),

Thank you Isle Of Wight St Mary's hospital for the excellent videos regarding the complete journey for patients going through Hip Replacement.

I am the carer for my wife who is having this total hip replacement, and I found this website because my own regional health board here in Scotland failed to provide access to information like this. Covid caused the suspension of Joint School, but we were not given access to the substitute app My Recovery. I'm now watching this 3 days after my wife's hip replacement, and she is, unfortunately, still in hospital with kidney infection resulting from medication. Hopefully she will recover soon and get home.

So, again, thank you for the excellent information.

Dear Information Hunger

Thank you so much for taking time to let us know how helpful the virtual hip and knee school videos were to support you and your wife during her recent surgery. I will ensure this is passed on to the team.

I am sorry to hear your wife's recovery has not quite gone to plan, but I do hope she is on the mend soon, and back home with you.

Wishing your wife a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Dear Information hunger,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that your wife has had to have a hip replacement. I am glad you were able to access information and videos relating to this and that they have been beneficial for you and your wife. I will certainly pass your feedback on regarding these not being provided by NHS Lanarkshire's University Hospital Monklands for learning and reflection.

I hope your wife's recovery goes well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni

Dear Information Hunger,

Thank you so much for taking time to share your experience.

I am sorry to hear that your wife is still in hospital after her hip replacement, I hope she makes a good recovery soon.

I have passed this onto a colleague within Orthopaedic Physiotherapy services who is glad to hear that you were able to find information to support your wife's surgery but noted the disappointment that this was not from your own health board here in Scotland. They will share this feedback with the orthopedic team and will use this for further learning and development of this service.

Thank you,

Cara
