Asked in consultation and on the day for gas & air, for cervix numbing spray, as suggested by previous doctor. On the day of the hysteroscopy I spoke to the doctor to explain what I was told and asked for this and gas & air.
Once the procedure started I wasn’t given cervix numbing spray or gas or air. The doctor dismissed my request once they started the procedure but beforehand had said they would ensure I was pain free . I was in so much pain during and afterwards, in trauma & shock. My blood pressure went high (I have never had high blood pressure) and I was vomiting and had an upset stomach. It was very painful with stomach pain & cramps and I ended up in A&E for 12 hours.
I am still living with the trauma of it all and feel the hospital haven’t dealt with my complaint. I was told I was refused this treatment (which was discussed once in consultation and on the day ) because I was breathing heavily and screamed out with pain so no pain relief was given? They just carried on hurting me and the said be grateful you don’t have cancer.
