"Directions to Outpatients"

About: Moyle Hospital / Outpatients Department

(as the patient),

I am attending Moyle Hospital for an appointment.  I know where the hospital is but I cannot find out where the Outpatients Reception is.

How can a hospital leave its patients with no idea where to go once they get to the place?  I have followed the route on Google Maps all the way into the grounds but no luck.

Woeful!

Morning my name is Annaleen Knowles Lead Nurse for Outpatients in Northern Trust which includes the Moyle OPD.

Thank you for sharing you concerns regarding signage on the site, and I would like to apologies to you regarding the distress caused by this situation.

On the day you attended the hospital the main entrance was temporarily closed due to ongoing work replacing the roof of the building. The estates department had temporary signage in place to direct patients attending via a different entrance and also they had the project manager on site to assist patients.

I am sorry that you did not find this temporary signage adequate and thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have raised this with the project lead so that we can improve on the signage while work continues on the site.

Update posted by Kinglouie (the patient)

Thanks for getting back to me. I did see the signage but it was only of help to patients who could walk a distance, I can only walk a few meters before pain forces me to sit down. Someone showed me where to park and staff brought a wheelchair out as it was quite a distance from the door to the waiting area, I would like to thank the staff for that asistance.

My original problem was finding the outpatients department on a map, I have memory issues due to a brain infection in 2015. Because of this I always go on to Google Maps and write down the route, It was when I got to the hospital entrance I had a problem finding the Outpatients as the sign was not where I expected it to be.

Might I suggest enclosing a simple map of the grounds with a list of departments and a corresponding number on the map. When I arrived at the hospital I did see the signage so that was not a problem, it was frustrating however battling with google to find the exact location of the Outpatients before travelling. Even publishing a map on your web site would be very helpful.

Good evening thank you for your suggestions regarding looking at what we have available on our website to advise patients regarding services available on our different Hospital sites. I will discuss with the appropriate department who manages the the Trust website what the potential possibilities are that can be considered to ensure patients are better informed.
