"Cannot Fault The Care"

About: Physiotherapy / Physiotherapy (inpatients) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Rapid Access and Discharge

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I had to be brought into the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy by ambulance. I did have a 2 hour wait before the ambulance arrived.

The ambulance crew were great ,they were very friendly and chatty  Once we arrived at the hospital I had a very long wait outside the Accident & Emergency Department. In my opinion this all has a knock on effect as the ambulance crew have to wait too and cannot leave until the patient is taken into A & E.

I was transferred to ward 9 (Radical Assessment Unit) this is a very good ward the staff in here are all very friendly. I have had to have an X Ray and a scan . The physiotherapist came to see me but could not do anything until the results came back.

I have had a good welcome into the ward the staff all introduced themselves to me this made me feel so much more relaxed.

Although the staff are always kept busy they seem to handle the workload well. If I need anything I just press the buzzer.

The menu has a good choice maybe just not always to my taste but the soups are very good.

I think it is a good idea having open visiting here in Ward 9.

The staff are very helpful with washing etc  They are always up for a laugh , always joking and this really helps to keep my spirit up.

I cannot fault any of the care I have had in all of the areas I have been in .

Dear Staffmemberfife1

Thank you so much for getting in touch through Care Opinion to let us know about your experience

I am sorry to read you had to make use of our services as well as those of the wider NHS. I am also sorry to hear about the delay for the ambulance to attend and also the lengthy wait at hospital.

It's really lovely to hear you describe our staff as great, helpful and chatty. I really hope this made a difference. It's wonderful also to hear the kind words for the hospital staff also.

I would deary love to pass on your kind words to our crew. If you would like me to do that for you, please may I ask you email sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, address and the date of when we attended to you.

I really hope you are now feeling better and on the road to recovery

Kind Regards

Lesley

Dear staffmemberfife1

Thank you for your feedback, whilst I see you cannot fault the care you received, you quite rightly highlight the issues that come with regards to long waits to get into hospital. I am sorry that there was a significant delay in your being accepted into the Emergency Department, and agree this is not good. I can offer you assurance that we continue to review, monitor and change our practices in attempt to reduce and improve wait times. Lengthy waits I agree is not a good experience and something we are constantly aiming to improve. I do hope your recovery is going well and wish you well.

Take care and thank you again.

Jamie Doyle - Emergency Department - Victoria Hospital.
