"I was told there was no trace of my request"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

For a number of weeks I've been ringing the Respiratory Lab at Wishaw General to ask if I could go on the cancellation list for a Lung Function Test.

This is one of 3 mandatory test that Systemic Sclerosis patient should have annually. I was told on multiple dates that there was no trace of the request.

On all these occasions I thought I was speaking with the same staff member, but later this staff member denied any prior knowledge of my enquiry. They told me that they were working on it right then & would call me back.  I got no call back, but when I rang nearly a week later, low & behold the request is there & has been BACKDATED 5 weeks.

If a mistake is made there's no shame in saying so, apologise & move on but to change the details of what happened, that's unforgivable.  My experiences with Rheumatology at Wishaw over the last 18 months have been horrendous & hugely damaging to my mental health.  I feel irrelevant & worthless & have had to seek help from Samaritans. I need this treatment to stop, it's doing harm.

Dear Madge51,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion of Rheumatology, University Hospital Wishaw.

I am sorry to hear of the issues you have faced following up on an appointment you were due to have. I cannot comment if it was the same person that you spoke to however I would like to think that if it was and a mistake was made they would be honest and apologise for the error. We always want to make things better for patients.

It would be helpful if you could contact Patient Affairs at University Hospital Wishaw so that they can understand the issues in more detail. I have included their details below.

PatientAffairs.Wishaw@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Jenni, I have absolutely no faith in Patient Affairs.

If you can shed any light on this latest fiasco to affect me, then share it here so everyone can see it.
