I brought my mum in for a check up with the haematology nurse today as she has a blood disorder. It was the first time we had met this nurse and she was really helpful and took time to get to know my my. I mentioned that mum had developed a sore on her ankle and she suggested a referral to occupational therapy. Before we left she made sure we had all the contact details we needed and a blood form for mum’s next blood test. Nothing was too much trouble. By the time we got home we had a call from the triage nurse who had received the OT referral. He discussed mums risk of pressure areas and ordered her a pressure relief cushion and mattress topper which should come in the next few days. He also gave me a number to call for district nurses if there are any further problems. I was really impressed at the kindness and professionalism that we’ve experienced today.
"Kind and thoughtful care"
