"I would be happy to be a patient in ward 10C."

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Orthopaedics (Wards 10a, 10b, 10c &10d)

(as a service user),

Attended A&E at the QEUH recently. Within 40 minutes I saw a triage nurse who immediately called a doctor.  I had blisters on my hands which were joining up and 1 hand was swollen. Immediately hooked up to an Antibiotic IV drip, had blood taken. Saw an Orthopaedic surgeon who advised that I needed to be admitted. Thereafter I was sent for X-rays on my swollen hand before being admitted to ward 10C.

From being given tea and a sandwich (hadn’t eaten since 1pm) shortly after admission to being discharged 4 days later I was provided with exemplary care and dignity by the whole team. A special thanks goes to Nurse Feeney whose calm and reassuring manner helped alleviate any concerns I had. You are a star. I left hospital full of admiration for all the staff at the hospital who work so well together for the benefit of patients. I am currently on the waiting list for hip replacement surgery and I would be happy to be a patient in ward 10C.

Hi Alimm34

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience of Orthopaedic care in Ward 10C at the QEUH after your recent inpatient stay.

Our staff work very hard and it is so nice to hear that their efforts made a difference to the care you experienced. I will be sure to share your feedback with them all.

I trust that your hand is continuing to improve and hopefully we'll be seeing you again soon for your planned hip replacement.

Best wishes

Morag Busby, Lead Nurse Trauma and Orthopaedic services
