"Bad specialist"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I visited rheumatology department for a 2nd opinion as I was misdiagnosed prior in different hospital. I thought Northwick Park hospital will do better, boy was I wrong. Maybe these short waiting times in comparison to other hospitals are here for a reason... .

The rheumatologist I saw didn't give me a chance to explain the symptoms fully, denied possibility of diagnosis because of my age (osteoarthritis isn't old folks disease only), minimised severity of my condition (just because I can bend forward doesn't mean all is good with me) and in the end I received a report stating I have a joint pain. So my diagnosis became 'a symptom'. I came here to find out what was causing my joint pain not to be assured I had a joint pain, I already knew that.

I wish medical professionals stop treating their patients like fools. I am educated enough in medical science to understand when someone is telling me porkies and when things don't make sense.

I am now back to the begining, no clue what's causing my joint issues.

Dear Sir/madame,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your experience at Northwick Park Hospital. I’m sorry to hear of your misdiagnosed under a different hospital and the struggles you are having with your joint pain, this must be very frustrating.

I have been in contact with the rheumatology department and the general manager has assured we take all comments seriously and would like to understand your experience with us more. Therefore, please can you get in contact with our PALS Team who will be able to look further in to your care with us and steps we can take moving forward. Their contact details are – 020 8869 5118, LNWH-tr.PALS@nhs.net.

Again apologies for the experience you are having and I hope you receive the care you need very soon.

Kind Regards

Emma Calnan – Patient Experience Officer
