"Really not happy with how I was made to feel"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Occupational Therapy

(as a service user),

I had a video consultation with an occupational therapist and I am very disappointed in this.

I was added to the list last year and got an appointment last week as GP expedited me so was given an appointment with occupational therapist, no questionnaires were sent out prior to the appointment and I am left feeling very angry at how the appointment went.

I was more or less told that my symptoms were due to other illnesses I have but these are well under control and all blood tests show this.

I was more or less told it’s because I’m overweight that is causing this, they said they thought it was sleep apnea, how can you offer a service that is done via video link and not even a full medical history to be done, just because I’m on the list for weight loss surgery doesn’t mean that my symptoms are related to weight.

The reason I gained so much weight is because I am so totally tired all the time that any sort of exercise is just far too much! This service needs to be looked at and if you don’t have doctors or consultants then perhaps you should not be running a service.

Really not happy with how I was made to feel on this appointment.

Dear claired0205

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was saddened to see that you had such a negative experience with your Occupational Therapist and that you left your appointment feeling angry.

if you would like to raise your experience as a concern or a complaint, please contact the Patient experience team. They can be contacted via email rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net or, if you would like to speak to a complaints officer directly, please call 01872 252 793 where the lines are open 10-4, Monday to Friday. A voicemail is in operation outside of these times and calls will be picked up the next working day.

Thank you for sharing your story with us and I am sorry, again, that your experience wasn't a positive one.

Thank you

Megan
