"Individual acts of kindness"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy General Surgery / Urology Surgery (Ward 27) Ninewells Hospital / Colorectal

(as a service user),

I wanted to share some feedback following my treatment over the past year for colorectal cancer and my surgery this week. The stick test last summer led to me being called in and my cancer was discovered during a colonoscopy.

NHS Tayside then delivered a speedy and complex treatment plan. I’m so grateful to Dr Sanders and his amazing Radiotherapy and chemotherapy teams who got me through an autumn of intense treatment. Huge thanks to Staff nurse Vari and her colleagues on the chemo ward. This produced a huge result which destroyed all detectable signs of the cancer. Wonderful consultations and support from Mr Polignano and his colleAgues. Some unusual cells were spotted on a recent check and these were removed by the very kind Mr Moses and his team this week. My care on ward 27 was simply exemplary.

Staff nurse Erin, on the day shifts, and night shift staff nurse Natalie looked after me with so much care. Also special mentions to student nurse Greer and nurse Lesley. Dr Gooch and her anaesthesia team were so kind. It’s not just the professionalism that strikes you, it’s all the individual acts of kindness from all of your teams. I am so so lucky to get my treatment from your colleagues.
