My GP referred me to Borders General Hospital breast clinic, as a lump was found in my armpit. 10 days later BGH called me to say waiting list to have tests done was 49 weeks. I thought she said 4 to 9 weeks but then she followed it up with "that's nearly a year".
I was shocked. There was hope. She offered an appointment at the Forth Valley Hospital in Stirling that Wednesday afternoon. Breast clinic out patient. Ten days ago now. After a 2 hour horrendous drive, we arrived.
Everyone I met was wonderful. Kind and caring. I was examined, had 2 mammograms, then a scan where a tiny lump was also found in the breast. Then 4 biopsies taken, then another mammogram then back to consultant. Although very worrying, I felt in good hands. Everyone was so caring and wonderful.
The consultant said that everything would be sent to the Borders General Hospital and they would contact me within 10 days with results.
It's now 10 days today and I'm so worried that after the shock of waiting times at BGH, how long do I wait? I don't know who to contact at either hospital to get information, or how long to wait before I make any calls.
"Anxiously waiting for breast cancer test results"
