"Treatment for post menopausal bleed"

After my period had stopped for over 12 months I started bleeding heavily. I was referred by GP for an internal scan and consultation with. Gynaecologist. I waited around 12 weeks to be seen and was diagnosed with thickening of the lining of the womb. I was referred for the procedure and didn’t know what to expect.

I spoke with the Dr before the procedure and he told me if I couldn’t tolerate it then they would refer my for general anaesthesia. By this time I had been bleeding constantly for over 4 months. They removed polyps and took biopsies. I was told I would be fine. I was in absolute agony for hours afterward but the bleeding stopped and no cancer was found. I wanted a fully hysterectomy at this point and was told I would be fine. 

18 months later the bleeding returned and I had to go through the whole thing again. I was extremely traumatised as the initial Dr who took the next scan told me they didn’t like what she saw and referred me for urgent test results.

There was no cancer but I was referred again for the same procedure. I was in tears as I knew what was coming. It was a female Dr second time and she spoke at length with me prior to the procedure. I told her if I had to go back again I was insisting on a hysterectomy. I had more polyps removed, biopsies taken and because I was so distraught I said I would try the Merino coil with the slow release HRT. 

They were going to go in without anaesthetic but I said they weren’t getting anywhere near me without it. I had to take strong codeine afterwards. Touch wood I’ve felt much better since the HRT coil.
