Entering hospital as a patient whether short or long term is for most people a very worrying and daunting prospect and I am no exception. I had to Visit Glenfield Hospital, Ward 24 Pain management on a day visit basis which entailed some minor surgical procedure. From my initial arrival right through to final discharge was made a much more pleasant experience than anticipated. Staff gave their names and were very welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and staff even responded positively to some joking banter. My Consultant explained all I needed to know about the procedure and politely answered any questions I had. After the procedure they even came round asking all the patients how they were feeling, what a lovely bedside manner! There is a fair amount of adverse publicity about the lack of care at various hospitals, well Glenfield is more than ok in my opinion, including all other departments I have had to attend!
