Seven years ago I was admitted to causeway a&e department very poorly with what was later diagnosed by Mr Davey as a perforated bowel requiring a hartmans procedure. Mr Davey was the kindest most professional member of the surgical team I could of met, in a busy early Sunday morning in a&e this gentleman got down on his knee to get level with my position to explain how urgent my situation was and how major the surgery would be, a credit to his profession.
My surgery was very successful but two additional surgeries were carried out yet again by Mr Davey I never had one moments hesitation prior to surgery as I have complete faith in this gentleman and his expertise.
In the intervening years he has performed live saving surgery for my critically ill father despite having to weigh up many risks and convince other medical staff including anaesthetic staff that the procedure was worth doing. My father has enjoyed a year of family life, weddings, the births of grandchildren and great grand children and continues to do so.
I have recently had surgery that was inevitable given my past surgical history and again I am in awe of this gentleman, thank you so much for your kind heart, skills and professionalism truly a one off and what a consultant providing excellent care and attention to nhs patients thank you from me and my extended family
