We had an appointment with our GP regarding my son who had developed a leg pain.
The GP was very reassuring and did a complete check but wanted us to see a specialist to rule out a common hip condition so she asked us to visit ED.
On arrival, it was obvious that the department was under a lot of pressure and we did see a social media posting alerting people of the possibility of long waiting times. Unfortunately we were already checked in, so we added to that pressure.
In saying that, we weren't there as long as I had imagined, and they quickly opened up the minor injuries clinic to assess those like ourselves who were not serious cases. This is such a good idea and I want to praise those who organise the department for having the sense to have a filtering mechanism.
The consultant overseeing the clinic was efficient, before long we were seen and had a full consultation and were reassured about my son's diagnosis and had the information about how to move forward.
The staff never felt rushed in interaction with us, even with the pressure they were under and I want to thank them for their care and time, and apologise for adding to their workload.
Many thanks to the whole team from us all.
