I cannot recommend highly enough the nutrition and dietetics department and Alison who helped me bring myself back to life. With compassion and consistency Alison supported me to fundamentally alter my approach to nutrition & food. The regular appointments helped keep me on track and made feel heard after being consistently dismissed by other drs for my failure to lose weight. My health is super complicated and I am often caught between departments trying to stay in their own lane. 

The 2 year programme was exceptional and I still have a lifeline to them if my weight starts to spiral. 
In dietetics I felt heard, respected and very much less alone.

Thanks for sharing your story and your very kind feedback about the service.

I am pleased to hear you felt listened to and supported at your appointments. I understand how hard it is to manage your weight, especially when your health is complex.

I will share your story within the weight management service to ensure that the team continue to support other individuals who are struggling with their weight with compassion, respect and dignity they deserve.

I apologise that you have found other health professionals dismissive regarding your attempts to lose weight previously. I will pledge that service starts to change the negative culture experienced by many individuals, like yourself, by rolling out the Challenging Weight Stigma resource produced by Public Health Scotland.
