My young son was taken to Wishaw A&E by ambulance.
After a rough several hours in - a clearly understaffed and manic - A&E, he was admitted to the paediatric ward.
During our little one’s time on the paediatrics ward, he was under the care of Dr Sullivan. She was extremely friendly and reassuring to us parents, and fantastic with our little one. She clearly explained the diagnosis, treatment plan and, unfortunately, the complications we encountered during his treatment. One thing we noted while on the ward was that there appeared to be a “day shift” of staff, some of whom forgot they were surrounded by sick and sleeping children. Lots of shouting and slamming of drawers and metal cabinets throughout the daytime period. These people did not wear scrubs, and I don’t believe they were nursing staff. After discharge, our little one was subject to follow up reviews and again, during each of these, Dr Sullivan was extremely helpful and reassuring in her plans. All follow up tests happened exactly as she said. Thanks to Dr Sullivan and the paediatrics nursing team for getting our little one back to 100%!
