"Poor Care"

About: Northern General Hospital

Ward staff were/are appauling. Late is giving out pain relief ending in patients being in severe agony is disgusting. They have attitude problems. If you don't care then change careers!!! I will never go to this hospital ever again the sooner my loved one is out thats it

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your loved one's experience of care at Northern General Hospital. We are sorry to read that you have not had a good experience with staff, and have experienced delays to pain relief.

If you wish to follow this up, please contact our PALS team on 0114 271 2400 or by emailing sth.pals@nhs.net. The PALS team will ask you to share some personal details in order for us to investigate this matter for you and offer support with this concern.

We are currently undertaking an audit and patient experience survey around acute pain management, and will be using the results of these to take relevant actions across the hospital to improve acute pain management for our patients.

Thank you again for sharing your previous experience of care at our hospital and we are really sorry about the delays to receiving pain relief experienced.

We previously mentioned that we were undertaking an audit and patient experience survey around acute pain management. This has been completed and the findings have been shared with staff across the organisation so that areas identified can take action to ensure that appropriate pain management is delivered in a timely way. Pain management is also one of the Trust's Quality Objectives for the 2024/25 year, so a lot of work is going on to make sustainable improvements to pain management for our patients. We will be running a repeat survey and re-audit in early 2025 to compare these results to the initial audit and survey to identify what improvements have been made and identify any further action which may need to be taken.

We hope that this information is helpful and provides assurance that action has been taken to address this matter and improve pain management for our patients.
