I had two emergency open heart ops. The first was a CBG4 (forth cryoballoon generation) and around 3 weeks later I had to have an emergency debridement for a major mediastinitis infection behind the breastbone.
When I returned home I was initially looked after by the District Nursing Team until the vacuum dressing could be removed.
I then came under the care of nurses from the Community Cardiac Service in Fife. Their work was reminiscent of the days when the NHS actually worked. They came to my house several times and I certainly felt very well looked after.
