About: Falkirk Community Hospital / Opthalmology

(as a service user),

I was rereferred to the ophthalmology clinic by my local optition to check a concern identified at a recent eye test. He clearly explained why he made the request, understanding that my previous experience of this clinic had been unhappy and I did not want to return. 

The appointment came through quickly and was easy for me to change to a more suitable time with a short delay. 

I was seen today in very good time without the hour long ( or longer!) delays I’d previously experienced. Much better. 

The consultant I saw today was absolutely excellent. She listened to my concerns and explained everything that she did and found. She gave me more information and comprehensive explanation than I received in all my previous appointments combined. 

She showed me all the scans and findings and explained the technical workings of the eye in clear language which I understood. 

The future plan options were also clearly explained and she recommended a plan with  clear reference to my expressed views.  I felt reassured, respected and included in the assessment and plan for my healthcare. 

An excellent experience, thank you.
