"I have been treated with the utmost compassion, empathy and respect"

About: Community Mental Health Services / North Community Mental Health Team

(as the patient),

For the past few years I have been under the care of the mental health service and I have to say that it has been a huge help. My CPN, whose name is Christina, has really helped me to understand my mental health issues and I have learnt so much with her help. Throughout the time I have been working with her, I have been treated with the utmost compassion, empathy and respect and she has given me space to explore my childhood trauma. For the first time in my life, I feel validated and heard. That's a massive deal for me.

I really don't have anything to complain about. The help I've received has been so beneficial and I am starting to realise my own self worth and inner strength. I am extremely grateful for the support and encouragement. I will really miss the support when I am discharged. However I do understand that there's a huge backlog of people who need the services and I can actually see myself being able to cope on my own. I have had mental health issues since childhood and it's only now that I feel like I have been the skills necessary to navigate through life successfully.

Good evening, my name is Ally McGurty and I am the Clinical Team Manager for North Angus Community Mental Health Team. I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your story and for the lovely kind words in regards to your care.

It is so good to hear that you have been making such wonderful progress in your mental health journey and you should be very proud of what you have achieved. It is so important to us a team that we provide compassionate care and to hear from you how you feel validated and heard is so wonderful.

I will share this feedback with the team and I want to reassure that it will be a mutual decision for when you are ready to move on from the team. Your own kindness and compassion comes through in your story, caring for other people who may need our support.

I wish you the very best in your recovery and thank you once again for sharing your story.

Best Wishes

Ally McGurty
