"The food is good and the nurses took time to explain."

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Discharge Hub Victoria Hospital / Supported Discharge Unit

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Quite honestly I have enjoyed my time in hospital I have been in Accident & Emergency, Ward 6 Supported Discharge Hub and am now in the Discharge Lounge waiting to go home.

I have found the nursing care to be very good I am well looked after.

In the hospital.

I don't have a shower in the house so when I came in here I wasn't keen to have a shower. I Don't really know how to work the controls . The nurses tried to persuade me but after we talked they agreed and were happy  to bring me a basin. I was very happy with this as I also have difficulty getting in and out of the bath.

I don't think I was fully prepared for being kept in but I did bring a bag with some toiletries and underwear. I found that anything I didn't have with me was very swiftly provided and I was grateful for this.

I did find that things were explained to me very well during my stay (being transferred to other areas ).

One thing I thoroughly enjoyed were the meals in hospital. I had the most beautiful salad yesterday - lettuce, tomato, cucumber, coleslaw and a good serving of some lovely cold meet. It was delicious. There was also a rhubarb crumble which was out of this world it really was awfully good just like home made.

This might seem silly but I really did enjoy the break here in hospital as I hadn't really been anywhere in a long time.

In the Victoria Hospital I didn't have to worry about meals or cooking for myself. I have been eating simple foods at home as it is so much easier. It was just great to have freshly cooked meals served to me regularly. The temperature of the food is always good.

Now that I am going home I have to have Hospital at Home, but I was unsure of strangers coming into my house The nurse took time to explain how this works and now I feel much better that Hospital at Home are people I can trust .
