"No suitable therapy offered yet"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / Gedling Local Mental Health Team (LMHT)

(as a relative),

My partner has been under the care of this team for 22 months now. In that time, they have deteriorated so much that they have now taken to living in a flat alone. This teams lack of responsiveness and failure to provide even basic care to the standard he needs has led to several suicide attempts and the destruction of our family life.

I contacted Gedling mental health team back in March to let the team know that they were now in a good place to begin his MBT therapy. I was told at the time that in that case, the referral would be made immediately. A month later, I contacted them again to check it had been done, and received the following response -

Thank you for your email.

As yet the referral has not been done to MBT and I apologise, unfortunately we are currently very short staffed.

As soon as the team is able to do the referral, I will make you aware.

So they still hadn't done it. I asked again when the referral would be done a week after this. This email was completely ignored. I resent the email every day at this point until they stopped ignoring me because it was the only way to get answers. I was then told the referral wouldn't be done yet. So weeks and weeks had gone by and they were now backtracking on their promise to even do the referral.

As a result of this, 22 months after the initial referral to GMHT, they have still provided him with absolutely no therapy whatsoever. This is despite them diagnosing my partner with BPD and saying they need DBT or MBT. DBT they will not offer on the NHS in this area, so MBT was our only option, and they have plain refused to do the referral.

They were improving a lot. Now, because of this total lack of hope, they are going downhill again. They attempted suicide again because of the lack of hope or help from this team. They need the MBT promise to be followed through with so they can finally get better and it shouldn't be this hard to get such a simple request completed.
