I am a 76 year old lady - I caught my foot in a wooden clothes dryer + fell forwards, hitting my forehead on a Cornish stone fireplace + landing on my replacement knee + flat out on the carpet. The right hand side of me was caught up in the wooden clothes dryer, the left hand side to the left of the fireplace (in the middle of the room) + somehow - through trying to save myself - broke my little finger. I instantly knew it was broken as it was 'killing me'. As it was a Friday night, my husband got loads of ice + we iced my left hand, left knee, right hand + head. A+E next morning @ Penzance Minor Injuries + they were lovely - so caring - xrays - confirmed little finger broken, had to take off wedding ring as finger next to it was swelling, dropped it + they didn't give up in helping find it.
I saw Matt @ the hand clinic + he was so calm, understanding + caring. He welcomed me + put me @ my ease. Then he showed me the xrays + explained about the 'break', the he tested my 'ring' finger, looked @ the other hand + finally my broken one. He was thorough, made sure he didn't hurt me, but checked it over + reassured me. An absolute credit to the NHS. Anyone who seems him is very lucky.
