My wife was due to attend Ninewells allergy clinic on a Monday. All was well but when we arrived at the appointed hour we were told that we had missed a call which would firm up on a future visit. In view of our age the reception staff approached the consultant and asked her if we could be seen. They declined the invitation and we were told to return on another date but not until we received a phone call from them.
We then arrived at the new date to be told to come back on another date. This was done and took all of 5 minutes to assess what had to be done. To cut a long story short the results were examined and were a bit inconclusive.
The red tape was ludicrously complicated and hopelessly inefficient, not only wasting the patient’s time but the consultant and background staff too. Someone in authority should look at their procedures and give them assistance in managing something which is not fit for purpose in my opinion.
