"Poor communication "

About: Peterborough City Hospital

At our 20 week scan we were told we were having a girl, at a 35 week scan it was confirmed to actually be a boy. Then due to reduced moves had extra growth scans. Went for a 40 week growth scan the day before due date, arrived and was told my appointment had been cancelled 2 week’s previously but nobody had informed me of this, so waited for 20 minutes to be told this.

On 3rd May went in as referred by midwife for pre-eclampsia, had bloods taken at 3pm, then was told they would take 2 hours to come back, doctor wanted us to wait at the hospital just incase. So we waited, it got to 6:30pm and we’d heard nothing, the Antenatal department had closed and nobody had told me that i had to go to the maternity triage. I then waited there for a further 2 hours, before asking reception why I wasn’t able to get my blood results back, was rudely told as needed a bed, even though my results had been waiting there now almost 3 hours at this point. Within 5 minutes I was called by a nurse, who didn’t take me into a room just down a hallway full of other patients (didn’t feel very professional or private) to be told nothing was wrong and that I could’ve gone home hours ago.

The level of communication to patients within this department is absolutely shocking, to the point where I no longer plan on giving birth at this hospital because of how constantly let down I feel by the staff here.

I really would not recommend the department to anyone else, and wish I had chosen a different hospital to begin with.
