Having lost my mother at the end of October 2022 with sepsis in Craigavon Area Hospital, I ended up back in Daisy Hill Hospital in June 2023 for the third time this year also with sepsis and ended up on Level 2 Ward 22 being cared for by Doctor Michael. When he found out my family circumstances ie my daughter was registered blind and my husband had visual impairments also he went above and beyond to get me home to them, arranging with microbiology, IV nurse and OPAT over two days and despite being knocked back a few times he didn’t give up. He always treated me like I was his No1 priority and I observed him treating the other patients on my ward who had various degrees of dementia in the same manner.
The staff on the ward also treated me with care and compassion even though they were under enormous stress and made me feel I was being listened to. I cannot single any other one particular person out, as from the domestic staff right through to the consultant I received the best experience I could have asked for.
"Dr Michael from Ward 22"
