"Unplanned admission to hospital"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Xrays and Scans

(as a service user),

I was admitted through A&E to the surgical wards in the early hours with severe abdominal pain and vomiting.

Everyone was so kind, helpful and attentive - the receptionist in A&E, the A&E registrar, the nurse who triaged me, and the surgical registrar who saw me in A&E. I’d also like to thank the radiology registrar for her care and expertise, and the HCA at ultrasound who was very attentive and compassionate. I’m so sorry I can’t remember all your names.

It was difficult for me being on the other side of the doctor-patient relationship but you all made a stressful experience a little easier by your manner and attitudes and I’m incredibly grateful to you all.

I’ve been able to thank the other teams and individuals involved in my care directly.

dear Carolyn816,

thank you for taking the time to post such a lovely care opinion. That sounded like a very uncomfortable admission and I do hope you are feeling much better and pain free now. I have passed on your thanks to the reception and nursing staff, the surgical team and the radiology department. I am so delighted that everyone made your visit feel a little less stressful and we are so appreciative to receive such positive feedback. I hope your symptoms continue to improve and you are back to full health soon.

with kind regards

Karen
