I attended Day Surgery Wishaw University Hospital Wishaw Lanarkshire for a colonoscopy with sedation. The nurse who booked me in and the other nurses who dealt with me were fantastic and caring. They each introduced themselves.
When I went into have my procedure the doctor gave me what I thought was sedation. I was unaware of her name. No introduction. I didn't feel drowsy or affected in anyway by the sedation. The procedure was very painful and I called out in pain a few times. I then asked if I had been given any sedation and was told by the doctor quite curtly that they gave me sedation.
I have had 2 colonoscopy's before with sedation and felt no pain. I was really upset over this and it took me about 2 days to recover from the experience.
I phoned my IBD nurse and told her about my experience and she said she would report back to her team. She also said if you were in so much pain, were you not offered a sedation top up? I await your response
