"Battling Chronic Urticaria & Eczema"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Dermatology (Skin Conditions)

(as a service user),

I've been battling with Chronic urticaria and eczema for over three years. At one point in this journey, my skin was so bad I wanted to die. Some of the care I have received hasn't been great, but I do want to thank Dr Torley and the team at the Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow, who were amazing.

Dr Torley prescribed methotrexate after a failed course of Xoliar (methotrexate was her initial recommendation, but I was VERY reluctant to go down that path). It has taken over a year to get my dose right - mainly due to a six-month break in care when moving house and changing health boards - but I now have my life back.  I have no side-effects from the treatment.

I'm not 100% better, but I'm at least 90%. So thank you Dr Torley for talking me into using methotrexate (and telling me to get off Facebook!).
