"We were treated with the most wonderful care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Acute Receiving Unit (Units 1-5)

(as a relative),

From the moment we stepped out of the ambulance and into Resus we were treated with the most wonderful care. We arrived in Resus and my relative was taken through to be clarked in whilst we were sat in a family room.

We were quickly brought through to be back by his side once they were organised, the resus team were simply outstanding and doing everything they could for us. We were then stepped down into the main A&E area, where David our Staff Nurse looked after us, answered any questions we needed and put us at ease.

We went home and were kept up to date when my relative was moved to ARU4. The team here again were second to none, on arrival to the ward we were greeted by a clinician who was so kind and compassionate with us, explained the situation and let us go into my relative's room.

Throughout our time in ARU4 Staff Nurse Emily and Charge Nurse Lindsay were undoubtedly two of the best nurses I have ever met. Both of these people went above and beyond to ensure that my relative was comfortable and that we had everything we needed.

We were then assisted by Student Nurse Suzanne to get my relative organised to be moved to a quieter area. Whilst this was a sad event and we know the outcome won't be a good one, the staff team in Resus, A&E and particularly ARU4 have made this situation bearable and helped us as a family. I will never forget what they have done for us and can't thank them enough. I hope they know they are appreciated.

Dear Thankfulforyou,

firstly, thank you for taking the time to submit a care opinion during such a difficult time for you all. I am so sorry your relative’s outcome is not what you would’ve hoped for but I hope you are all finding strength and your relative remains comfortable. I will pass on your gratitude to David and the resus team who kept you updated and looked after your relative while they were in the Emergency Department, to submit such an appreciative care opinion while you’re all going through this hard situation is so kind and thoughtful of you.

Thank you,

Kind regards to you and your family,

Karen
