"Lovely and helpful staff"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Daisy Hill Hospital / Respiratory Ward

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came to ED last Thursday. I was seen very quickly. I was actually surprised at how fast I was seen. I was then admitted up to female medical, but have since been moved to respiratory.

The staff are lovely! I'm in a side ward on my own and I'm rather young and independent and don't see them too often, but anything I need the staff are happy to get. When I was on female medical I was in a ward with 5 other patients and it was good fun, I had a good laugh with other patients. Being in respiratory ward is a bit lonely. I enjoyed the company and it made the day go faster.

I've had no issues or complaints about my care. The only thing that annoyed me was needing a staff member to come with me if I needed a smoke or go to the shop! It made me feel like a child again. That's really the only thing I would say was a negative about my stay so far.

Thank you for sharing your experience of Respiratory Ward. We are delighted that you have found the staff to be lovely. Within the trust policy Covid positive patients are to remain on the ward due to infection control precautions. We are sorry that you have had less company on the ward, at the moment we have reduced numbers of Covid positive patients. I hope you are feeling better.

Best wishes

Judith
