I attended an endocrine appointment today in RVH. While the consultant was nice, I felt that it was rushed and was a rapid fire of questions. I feel that every time I went to explain the issues that were affecting me everyday, they were just dismissed as the appointment was going another way and I was rushed out to get my blood sugar checked with no opportunity to ask questions or raise my concerns.
I have been referred for a test but don’t understand why I need it or what it means in relation to my symptoms. I spoke to the receptionist who was super kind and got the department sister who went and asked the consultant a questions for me but I’ve still been left with no explanation.
During the consultation the consultant said they haven't seen a letter from another team until I was in the room so obviously didn’t have a chance to read it which is understandable, but however when the department sister spoke to them I was told not to worry that they'd read the letter the day before and again prior to my appointment, which contradicted what I had been told face to face.
"I felt that it was rushed"
