I have diabetes type 2. I have been told that I will no longer be entitled to podiatry treatment to prevent ingrowing toenails. If and/or when my toenails become ingrown, then they will be removed. I take good care of my feet and check them every day. I have thus become a victim of my own success. I only used the service 3 or 4 times a year for about 10 minutes per session. The final thing I was told was that I could always go private. This change to the podiatry service flies in the face of the government's recently announced project to cut down the number of amputations due to diabetes complications. They are only going to deal with serious infections instead of taking steps to prevent them in the first instance.
