"Time waiting"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology

(as a service user),

In general, service and attention by all NHS staff cannot be faulted.

What could be better:

The worst bit about it all was the time I had to wait for procedures to happen.

Entered A&E Emergency Care ward. Told I needed angiogram (ultrasound first). Ultrasound didn't happen until four days later.

I felt well enough to go home over the weekend and could have freed up a bed.

From Wishaw, taken to Hairmyers. Waited 7 hours for transport (ambulance) availability - could have arranged my own transport.

2 days of nothing happening.

At present awaiting angiogram which should happen today, but no guarantee.

Dear tucanaqd36

Thank you for sharing your story. It must be a very worrying time for you.

If you would like me to have the delay in the ambulance transfer investigated please may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your home address and telephone number and the date of the transfer.

I do hope you will be feeling better soon.

Kindest regards

David

Dear

Thank you for taking time to feedback on your experience at University Hospitals Wishaw and Hairmyres. I am pleased that you found the care provided by our staff to be good it will be a pleasure to share this with the teams

I am, however, sorry to hear about the wait you have had, both for procedures and to be transported to University Hospital Hairmyres. We always want to make things better for patients. In order for us to investigate this further, it would be helpful if you could contact Patient Affairs at University Hospital Hairmyres so that they can understand the issues in more detail. I have attached their details below.

PatientAffairs.Hairmyres@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Tel no 01355 585325.

I hope that your angiogram has now taken place and that you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
