"Lack of facilities"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh)

(as a service user),

I just wanted to feedback that I am disappointed ground floor coffee shop in rhcyp is closed. You can't get a cup of coffee from the echc shop until after 3:30pm and are instructed to go to the 4th floor coffee shop. This is far away, only one lift goes there, and is tricky if you have a little one/pram/difficulty with mobility.

I don't think is particularly beneficial for patients, families or staff and wanted to respectfully feed this back. Thanks

Dear funnywp96,

Thank you for your comment in relation to the ground floor coffee shop in Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Please accept my apologies for your disappointment at not being able to get a cup of coffee while visiting the hospital. I can advise that the Facilities team led by the Director of Estates and Facilities, are currently engaged in a review of our retail catering services across all of our hospitals to ensure that they are financially sustainable.

We have received a number of comments and complaints similar to yours in relation to the loss of the café on the ground floor and the inconvenience of the 4th floor restaurant and these are all being fed into the review process so that account can be taken of them in future service planning. We anticipate that the review will conclude during the summer (end July) and at that point our objective is that the redesigned service will meet the majority of visitors’ needs and be able to break even financially.

Kind regards

Danny
