"Waited 3 days for an unhelpful response to an E-Consult"

(as a relative),

Completely ineffective e-consult, complete waste of time! Like others have reported, my wife used e-consult and was told she would get a reply, three days later such response just told her to make an appointment with her GP!! This is exactly what everyone used to do before this total waste of time came about, three days wasted! Do they do this to just play for time or something as it really does not seem to benefit anyone!

Dear AndyHe,

Thank you for your feedback. The eConsult has been helpful for the sorts of problems that can be dealt with by advice or a prescription from the GP without needing to see the doctor directly. The option to include photos has also been useful for looking at skin lesions and rashes etc. However, some problems cannot be dealt with in this way and they require a face to face appointment for further assessment. Unfortunately the eConsult is not a way to obtain face-to face appointments as these still needs to be booked via telephone or online. I am sorry that this resulted in wasted time for your wife. I will ensure that our Reception team and Patient Advisors are aware of your feedback.
