"Good experience in the Minor Injuries Accident & Emergency dept"

About: Ards Hospital / Minor Injury Unit The Ulster Hospital / Fracture Clinic

(as the patient),

Had fallen in Spain 2 weeks before and was advised no break so RICE which I did for 2 weeks but no better! I was disappointed my local minor injuries dept in Newtownards was appointment only after I hobbled there on crutches! But they recommended the Ulster.

On Friday late afternoon I was met by Gethan in minor injuries who was so so professional and immediately explained what he thought the problem was and referred me to X-ray dept and came round and personally discussed my case with them to ensure he got right angles.  He then showed me the X-rays and explained in lay man’s terms what he thought the problem was and referred me for urgent CT scan! He supplied me with a walking boot and explained how it worked and my overall experience was 40 minutes.

Over the weekend I received a call for Monday morning CT scan appt! I have been overwhelmed by personal service by Gethan and how quickly he was able to organise all the other depts for me! Who needs private with this service available?

I have fully taken onboard your comment re: needing an appointment for our Ards Service. I have raised this point to service leadership for consideration and responsive action around public information provision regarding this service and appointment / access arrangements.
