I just remember sitting on the floor in my room, the 24 hours previous nothing, then paramedics, back of the ambulance, then nothing until being physically sick in ICU, for 4 weeks (in flashes). I didn't know where I was, from having chemotherapy from years back 2004 to 2005 which affected my lungs then COPD 2012. I was treated very badly by some ward staff, if it wasn't for a orderly who knew me from where I live it would have continued so when transferred to a different ward was only when I started to know who I was and where I was, didn't know I had a wife or children, although I was told they called it just didn't register.
Looking in a mirror I couldn't recognise myself, I had lost 7 and a half stones in weight in four weeks, muscle fat ,from what the Dietitian told me on the day I was discharged, having to learn to walk again. It wasn't till my wife passed away 8 months later (heart attack in her sleep ) that my GP referred me to the Covid rehab team by the time my oldest daughter died then I started having more flashbacks of the time in hospital which was really disturbing but it can't be changed and can only try and forget, thanks to the Physiological help and physiotherapy.
