I waited almost 24 hours for a callback from a doctor after contacting NHS 111 and being advised I would need to speak to a doctor. I understand the service is busy, but I think this is an unacceptable length of time to wait. The service could make use of other practitioners i.e. advanced nurse practitioners, advanced paramedic practitioners, and clinical pharmacists who can diagnose and prescribe medications as needed.
The doctor I spoke to was quite patronising towards me like I didn't have a good understanding of my chronic illness and what symptoms may indicate a worsening of my condition.
