In May, I noticed a change in my left breast. Not a lump, but a small dimple. I ignored it for a day, pretending I'd never seen anything that said dimples need to be checked out. Then I asked my partner if he could see it. He could, so I rang my GP. I said it wasn't urgent but when I said what the issue was she got me an appointment that same day.
The GP wanted to refer me to the breast clinic.
Despite all the bank Holidays the letter came through in less than days with an appointment. I was seen yesterday by a consultant, given a mammogram there and then, and got the all clear. If I had needed an ultrasound or biopsy they would also have been the same day.
It is less than two weeks since I noticed the dimple and I have been seen and discharged. Everyone from the GP receptionist on day 1 to the person who showed us out yesterday was charming helpful and kind. I am so grateful to them all.
