What I liked
I was assessed in the a & e dept very soon after arriving and from there moved up to the coronary care unit extremely quickly. From the lady on the a & e desk to the medical staff in a & e I have nothing but praise for the way that I was treated with respect, listened to and was given confidence in the treatment I would be given. This was followed up by equally good treatment in the coronary unit. All the staff who work there operate as a cohesive team and very rarely do you see bank staff and this gives the patients continuity of care. I have been in many other wards and hospitals and most use bank staff in ccu wards and I have to say I have seen and experienced problems with care because of it. The Leicestershire Trust hospitals have all high standards. I have had reason to be admitted to all three and so can speak with some authority. I travel 50 miles to be treated at the Royal to avoid being treated at either Ketttering or Northampton hospitals, which in my opinion have a long way to go in terms of being healthcare providers.
What could be improved
The only things that I have seen causing problems are the small drop off point at a & e and the car park there too. It was closed on the night of my arrival and so we were forced to drive round to the main car park with a lengthy walk which was a problem for me. Also the toilet facilities could be better maintained and updated both in the public access areas and the wards.
