"Not happy that I was given wrong information"

About: Lagan Valley Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as a service user),

I went to lagan valley urgent care following a suspected chiropractic injury. I was concerned about fracture as I was in immense pain and was aware of complications and I already have a complex medical history and am medically vulnerable.

After my x ray I was advised by a doctor in the waiting room that I had bruised ribs and just to rest. I asked if I could have patches for the pain, they apologised profusely because I could only have 5 days of pain management, I said I didn't mind as long as I could get at least 2 nights sleep. I wasn't shown my x ray or anything

When I looked at the discharge letter for the GP it clearly stated clinical fracture. Had I not seen that, my carer wouldn't have known how to best look after me to ensure no further complications and to keep an eye out for symptoms of complications

I'm not happy that I was given wrong information on my own body and how to keep it safe

Hi sigmaxy67

Than you for sharing the story of your experience at Lagan Valley Hospital Urgent Care Centre.

I fully empathise with you regarding the importance of having the correct information provided to you - particularly with your complex medical history and vulnerability.

I apologise to you for what has happened here and invite you to email me at conor.campbell@setrust.hscni.net to provide your name, date of birth, address and contact information in order that service leadership may review your care journey and respond to you at a personal level.

At this point, do you feel that you need to be seen or have discussion with a member of Urgent Care Centre Team regarding your recovery / pain management? Please advise me regarding this.

I hope that your recovery is quick and full and that your pain subsides quickly.

Best wishes

Conor

Update posted by sigmaxy67 (a service user)

I've sent email response to the address you supplied. I think I'd likely need input regarding recovery considering the side of ribs affected the worst had previously undergone radiotherapy and have shown signs of a repeat break.
