My wife contracted an IGAS infection in her right hand at the base of her thumb in January 2023. Our GP immediately referred her to Accident & Emergency at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and that evening she underwent a procedure to flush out the infection.
She was admitted to Ward B23. and a course of IV anti-biotics prescribed. After eight days in hospital, she was discharged but after a routine wound dressing, a few days later, she was re-admitted after the infection re-appeared. After a further 2 days in hospital, with more anti-biotics. she was finally discharged.
She had to return for weekly dressing changes and wound monitoring in addition to weekly visits to The Richmond Practice for similar treatment. After 16 weeks of visits to Area 5 Outpatients Dept at Forth Valley Royal Hospital she was finally well enough to be discharged from the care of the Hospital.
We would like to thank all the staff of staff of Ward B23 and Area 5 Outpatients in particular Nicole, Julie and Kevin who looked after her and became friends during the regular visits over the period. They were all most attentive and sympathetic and were genuinely interested in her progress, in fact they all were delighted to view how their care had helped to heal the particularly serious wound that my weekly photographs detailed. we can’t thank them enough and feel sure that their sympathetic care was a great positive factor in recovery!
Keep up the excellent work!
"They were all attentive and sympathetic"
