"Thank you to the ward staff"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

(as the patient),

I went in for septoplasty & turbinate reduction. I went to DOSA, they were absolutely amazing in there. I went down to theatre, the theatre staff were also very good. I had never had general before. I was told the first lot of liquid was to calm me. The next I got I was in recovery. I was told I had been in theatre 1 hour. A staff nurse from ward 210 came & took me up to the ward. They were so nice & friendly. Very caring. I think it was an auxiliary came with some yoghurt & pudding & took my order for lunch. If not for this auxiliary & the nurse looking after me I wouldn't know what I was to do or what medication I had to take.

I never seen a surgeon - nobody apart from those two staff, who were so nice. So I have came back home to Moray with no aftercare info. Thankfully I can use Google.

Thank you to the ward staff on 210 for being so helpful & caring.

Thank you for taking the time to share your hospital experience Lossie2023.

I’m delighted the staff you met on your journey made you feel well looked after and I know the teams mentioned in your feedback will be proud they came across as friendly and caring.

We should always make sure patients have the aftercare information they need when being discharged and I'm sorry this didn't happen for you. While Google is a fantastic source of information it isn’t ideal that you were left to look this up yourself. I hope you have now fully recovered from your septoplasty and turbinate reduction, but if you have any questions about your aftercare please get in touch with me (jane.beattie1@nhs.scot) and I can look for the information you should have received.

Take care,

Jane
