"It really has been a life changing experience"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Outpatients

(as the patient),

After decades of Olympic-level snoring, things started to severely go downhill for me. I had been a mess for months and sleep deprivation was torturing me. It had never been this bad before and I had always been able to work away my normal life with sleep apnoea (which I presumed was just snoring).

I had to take action and get the resolution I needed. I had a sleep study done through a charity called hope2sleep, and the results came through as one of the most severe cases of sleep  apnoea they had seen. This had progressed further into hypoventilation syndrome.

I was quickly referred to the sleep clinic at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where the nurses and staff have been absolutely second to none! The care and attention they have given me has been amazing and I have really quickly been medicated and am having fantastic sleep now on a ventilator.

I really want to thank the nurses in that department for their work in getting me through this. It really has been a life changing experience and it has only just started.
