"Quick treatment for kidney stones"

About: General practices in Fife Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Day surgery Victoria Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Came home from holiday with lower back pain. Arrived at Victoria Hospital A&E on a Saturday night expecting a very long wait in a busy waiting area. 25 min later my obs were taken. I was put in a side room, given pain relief and was seen by a doctor who ran bloods and spoke to urology.

Returned on Sunday morning for CT scan and spoke with a urology surgeon who said I needed 3 stones removed from kidney. Next day, I was called by my GP to check on me and given further painkillers. Urology secretary called 2 days later to give me an appointment for 4 weeks.

Day surgery at Queen Margaret Hospital. Had to repeat the procedure and was phoned 4 weeks later with a cancellation.  Admitted to Victoria Hospital day surgery and successfully had stones removed. Appointment made for 4 weeks to have stent removed.

A&E staff, Queen Margaret day surgery, Victoria day surgery, GP at Kelty Medical Practice, Urology secretary and urology surgeons all worked hard to get me well as quickly as possible.
